This month is National Reading Month. There are many kids who would like to read as much as they can, but are not afforded the ability to sit down and read a good story. That is where the Topeka Zoo steps in to make a difference.
All this month, anyone who comes to the zoo and donates a gently used or new book will get a $1 off the admission. Where are the books going to go? They will be donated to the Boys and Girls Club of Topeka. The goal is to have everyone donate 2,500 books, or the number of people that the Boys And Girls Club of Topeka serve.
During the month of March, there will be zoo story time inside Camp Cowabunga, starting at 10:30 AM. There will be celebrity readers through out the month, including Angie Stevens and Sean Kelly from our sister station, Majic 107.7. They will be reading to the kids on Thursday, March 5th. Other guest readers include Melissa Brunner from WIBW-TV on the 12th, City manager Brent trout on the 13th and Brooke Lennington from our news partner KSNT on the 17th. She will also be delivering the books to the Boys and Girls Club when the drive is complete.
