Looking for a new best friend? Then Saturday is the day to mark on your calendar. Animal shelters around the area are taking part in a national pet adoption campaign called “Clear The Shelters”. It takes place this Saturday, August 18th.
According to KSNT TV over 900 shelter across the country participated last year and 80,000 pets were adopted. Here is the list of shelters across Northeast Kansas that will be participating in the event:
HELPING HANDS HUMANE SOCIETY: Pet adoption fees will be lowered to $50 for all dogs and $10 for all cats. They encourage you to go to the website to start the process.
LAWRENCE HUMANE SOCIETY: They are waving all adoption fees for cats and dogs. Also included is a bag of pet food, pet insurance and a microchip.
THE HEART OF JACKSON HUMANE SOCIETY: The shelter in Holton is offering $10 off for dogs under 40 pounds and large dogs over 40 pounds will be $25 off the adoption fee plus anyone who completes an adoption application that day and is approved will get their dog microchipped for free which is a $25 value.
THE JUNCTION CITY/GEARY COUNTY ANIMAL SHELTER: Cats will be $10 that are already spayed and neutered and $50 for dogs that are also spayed and neutered. They are already offering this deal and ends on August 18th.
THE CLAY COUNTY ANIMAL RESCUE AND EDUCATION CENTER: They are waiving half of all adoption fees which will put all of their dogs at $75 for the day.
