On Thursday, November 23rd, the Community Thanksgiving dinner will happen in Ag Hall at the Kansas Expo Centre from noon to 2pm. You can register to be a part of it starting today until November 17th, 2017 at 4 pm/ There are no qualifications to join the annual dinner, you will just be asked for your name, address, and phone number,. There is a limit of 1 meal per person and 3 meals per household.
If you are looking to volunteer, the Community Thanksgiving Dinner Foundation (CTDF) would love to have you and have opportunities open from 8am-8pm November 20th until the event on November 23rd. If you are interested, sign up via Topeka Rescue Mission. If you are unable to register online, you can call 785-354-1744. If you are unable to volunteer and would like to help in another way, non-perishable food donations for this year’s dinner can be taken to several locations throughout the city. CTDF has partnered again with the Topeka fire department and they will start collecting at the Topeka area fire stations on Wednesday November 15th through Sunday, November 19th. Non-perishable items needed are canned green beans, canned sweet potatoes, boxed dressing, boxed instant potatoes, canned cranberry sauce, canned milk, canned chicken broth, white and brown sugar. Cash donations are also needed to off-set the cost of the perishable food items and those donations are accepted at all Corefirst Bank and Trust locations or may be mailed to: CTDF; PO Box 432; Topeka KS 66601.
CTDF is excited for this milestone dinner and continuing to try to meet their goal that “No One Shall Dine Alone On Thanksgiving.”
