HELPING HANDS HUMANE SOCIETY OFFERS LOW-COST PET RESOURCES
Tag Day Set for Saturday, April 21, 2016
Helping Hands Humane Society will host “Tag Day”, a time for pets to receive low-cost rabies vaccinations, discounted microchips, nail trims, and city licenses. Tag Day will be held on Saturday, April 22 from 12:00pm to 4:00pm inside the Dorothy Fisher Activity Center at Helping Hands Humane Society (5720 SW 21st Street Topeka, Kansas).
Cost of Services Provided
Rabies Vaccinations $10
Microchips $25
Nail Trims $5
City Licenses $8 for spayed/neutered dog/cat or $20 for unspayed/unneutered dog/cat
In 2016, just 2% of stray cats and 34% of stray dogs admitted to HHHS were reclaimed by their owners. HHHS provides low-cost microchips as a way of hopefully getting lost pets reunited with their owners as quickly as possible. Some studies indicate that a lost pet’s chances of being reunited with their owners are 20 times higher if they have a microchip.
Justin Broker, Director of Community Engagement at HHHS said, “there aren’t many low-cost resources for pet owners in our area. Animals are often relinquished to us because of the financial responsibility. We encourage pet owners to take advantage of this opportunity to provide necessary services for their pets so hopefully they can live long healthy lives in their homes.”
Dogs attending Tag Day must be leashed at all times. Cats must be brought in a carrier. There is no need for an appointment. Individuals who have questions can contact Helping Hands Humane Society at (785) 233-7325.
