This young lady, Elaine Larsen, along with teammate Kat Moller, will bring make flame- and smoke-filled 280+ mph passes down the drag strip at Heartland Park in Topeka this spring at the Menards NHRA Heartland Nationals presented by Minties Pet Treats. This ground-rattling, jet-powered action takes over Heartland Park May 19-21.
“These jet dragsters put on an incredible show and are just another exciting element that we’re adding to the Menards NHRA Heartland Nationals as we move to bring even more racing action to the Fastest Drag Strip in the World,” says Scott Gardner, president and general manager at Heartland Park Topeka.
The amazing jet-powered machines join the list of strong racing excitement that already includes NHRA’s Top Fuel Harleys, the J&A Service Pro-Mods and a special Saturday night concert by national country music touring artist and Kansas native, Jerrod Niemann.
While jet cars have made exhibition passes at Heartland Park before, this will mark the return of these wild machines after a several year hiatus with featured runs planned for both Friday and Saturday evenings.
“We are ready to heat things up for the Heartland Nations!” says Elaine Larsen, driver of the Florida Institute of Technology jet dragster. “This will be my first time racing at Topeka – I am so excited to be a part of the 29th annual NHRA national race at Heartland Park. It will be a “Girl Power” weekend for the jets, with Kat running the second jet dragster, so you don’t want to miss this red-hot jet racing action.”
